Suddenly, two industrial HÉV cars break loose. They begin a runaway descent, gaining speed as they hurtle down the tracks towards Kerepes. Police, alerted by a patrol officer who witnessed the runaway cars near Cinkotai út, scramble to clear intersections. BKV specialists attempt to use track brakes, first in Kerepes, then Cinkota, and finally at Örs vezér tere. Their efforts are futile. The H9 to Kerepes line becomes a scene of unexpected chaos. The runaway cars, reaching speeds estimated at 140 km/h, careen off the tracks at Kerepes. They flip onto their sides before crashing into a Renault car dealership. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but four cars in the showroom are damaged, one beyond repair. The H9 => Kerepes line, usually a scene of commuter tranquility, became a temporary spectacle of destruction.
