Before us stands Gymnasium Lilienthal. A familiar sight for many, this school has been shaping young minds in Lilienthal since 1976. It has a rich history that we are about to delve into. It all started when the Gymnasium Osterholz-Scharmbeck was bursting at the seams. In 1975, a decision was made to establish independent gymnasiums in Lilienthal, Ritterhude, and Schwanewede to alleviate the overcrowded conditions. Here in Lilienthal, a new Gymnasium was established in 1976, initially sharing space with the existing Haupt- und Realschule in the Schulzentrum Schoofmoor. This was a crucial step in providing more educational opportunities for the local community. As its student population grew, the school expanded to include secondary education. In 1980, the first graduating class of Gymnasium Lilienthal took their Abitur exams. The Haupt- und Realschule eventually moved to a new location, leaving Gymnasium Lilienthal as the sole tenant of the Schulzentrum Schoofmoor. This marked a defining moment, solidifying the school’s presence within the community to this day. Today, Gymnasium Lilienthal stands as a beacon of academic excellence in Lilienthal, offering an impressive range of disciplines and fostering a love for learning in its students.
