The Gurdwara Nanaksar, a beacon of faith in Southall, stands proudly before you. Built upon land that once held a derelict factory, its transformation into a place of worship is a testament to the resilience and dedication of the Sikh community. Imagine the journey of those early Sewadars, who saw beyond the crumbling walls and envisioned a place where they could gather, sing kirtan and seek solace in the presence of the divine.

After receiving Baba Gurdev Singh Jee’s blessings, the land was acquired in 1999. The foundation ceremony, a joyous celebration of faith and hope, took place in October of that year. It was a significant milestone, marking the beginning of a new era of devotion and community-building in Southall. The first kirtan sessions were held in the annex hall as early as November 2000, even before the main hall was completed. Baba Jee desired that the spiritual foundation be laid as quickly as possible. The dedication of the main hall in February 2001, attended by Baba Gurdev Singh Jee and dignitaries from other Nanaksar Gurdwaras, was an unforgettable moment that united the community.

Stepping inside the Gurdwara Nanaksar you can feel the sanctity of this spiritual haven. The walls echo with the hymns of kirtan sung by the ragiis (monks), transported from India to Southall. The Gurdwara Nanaksar offers a unique take on the Sikh faith, with its dedicated following of the Nanaksar regime. The Masya tradition observed here every month celebrates both the Sikh spirit and fosters a strong sense of community, as it does not clash with the Pooranmashi celebrations at the Birmingham Gurdwara. This allows the Sangat to attend both functions, creating a strong sense of oneness.

The Gurdwara Nanaksar is a vibrant hub of faith and activity. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the building, the dedication of the community, and the enduring spirit of the Nanaksar tradition. This is a place of peace, solace, and unity, a testament to the unwavering spirit of faith.
