“Welcome” declared the sign at Hochstraße 31 in 1963. It marked the birth of a daring idea. This idea now thrives at the Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße.

This is the Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße. Here children attend state school in the morning. They then enjoy lunch and afternoon care from city staff. This all happens in the Tagesheim.

Parents in Munich love this model. Children are cared for from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM. Care extends to 6:00 PM with optional activities. Teachers and childcare staff work together. This ensures consistent support. The school’s kitchen team provides warm lunches in the new classroom building.

On Mondays, students bring all their materials. They usually leave them at school. This is because they complete their homework here. On Fridays, they take everything home again. The Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße values strong parent collaboration.

The school and Tagesheim collaborate closely. This benefits students from across the city. The Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße is a state school with a municipal Tagesheim. Each grade has only one class from first to ninth grade. Every student attends the Tagesheim. This means they are on site from 7:00 AM to as late as 6:00 PM.

A team of two adults leads each class. There is one teacher and one childcare worker. They spend time together in class. This happens both morning and afternoon. They host joint parent evenings. They also hold weekly parent meetings. The team even goes on school trips together every three years.

The teams gather for regular conferences. School and Tagesheim share spaces. Classrooms double as group rooms. Students learn, do homework, and enjoy activities there.

The leaders of the school and Tagesheim work together. They share budgets. They jointly decide on furniture and room use. They write monthly newsletters for parents. They meet weekly.

The Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße is making its way to becoming \”School N\”.

In 2023, classes 4 and 5 had a big show at Gasteig. It was called Münchner Klang(g)schichten.

The Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße welcomed the new school year 2023-24. They wished everyone a great start. The graffiti on the sports garage is amazing. The TH-Graffiti group created it last year.

The 4th grade started a school kiosk project in 2023. They learned how to organize such a sale. They also learned the accounting involved. No profit was made.

The Grund- und Mittelschule an der Hochstraße also mourned the loss of a school dog named Cooper. Cooper was a beloved member of the school. He brought joy to everyone.
