Arnold Gross was born in 1929 and died in 2015. He was a graphic artist. He also innovated the etching genre. Gross was one of Hungary’s most well-known and popular artists. Generations grew up with his drawings and color etchings. He defined 20th-century Hungarian art. He also shaped the country’s visual culture.
Gross Arnold’s son, András, designed the interior. The gallery displays Gross’s work. Exhibitions rotate frequently. You can even buy the colorful etchings and graphics.
The Gross Arnold Galéria és Kávézó offers special pastries. Try the caramel and dried fruit krampampuli. Or sample the zarabella. It is similar to a macaroon. However, it uses walnuts instead of almond flour. Beyond pastries, enjoy coffee, craft beers, and wines. Sandwiches are also available. Do not forget to look for the coffee shop’s three goldfinches.
Besides the permanent Gross exhibition, the gallery hosts professional presentations. Workshops and book launches also occur here. The Gross Arnold Galéria és Kávézó is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Friday it is open from 10:00 to 21:00. Saturday and Sunday it is open from 11:00 to 20:00.
