Wow This Greetings Tour Mural is huge! It’s unlike any other mural you’ve ever seen.

Imagine a sprawling postcard come to life. That’s the Greetings Tour Mural in Honolulu. It’s not painted on a wall. Instead it’s painted directly on the ground. Specifically on the top of an old abandoned garage at the Alohilani Resort.

Artists Victor Ving and Lisa Beggs created this masterpiece. It took them over three weeks. They used more than 35 gallons of paint. The finished mural covers a massive 3750 square feet. You can see it from the Swell Bar on the hotel’s fifth floor or from guest rooms above.

The project began unexpectedly. While working in Santa Monica they received a call about the Honolulu project. It had a tight deadline. A trip to paradise in the middle of winter? They couldn’t resist. This was even more ambitious than their first trip to Hawaii in 2015 for Lisa’s birthday.

Painting this massive mural had its challenges. The biggest challenge? The rain. For days on end rain interrupted their work. They painted under tents while vacuuming puddles. Tarps provided temporary relief. Then the wind blew them away. Despite the difficulties the team’s spirits remained high. They persevered and completed the mural before a huge winter storm.

The artists needed durable paint. They chose a marine-grade floor paint from Sherwin-Williams. This was essential given the Hawaii’s humidity and ocean mist. The prep work was meticulous. They gridded out the entire mural using detailed measurements and sketches. A friend’s suggestion to use chalk taped to a stick was genius.

The mural was part of the Pow Wow Mural Festival. The Alohilani Resort was a sponsor. Artists from around the world stayed at the hotel. The resort’s hospitality was amazing. They provided meals and comfortable accommodations.

After finishing their work the artists celebrated by hiking Diamond Head. They rented a Tesla. They enjoyed a scenic road trip around the island. They ended their trip with a stunning sunset at the North Shore.

This Greetings Tour Mural in Honolulu isn’t just a work of art. It’s a testament to perseverance. It’s a symbol of collaboration. It’s a vibrant representation of Hawaiian spirit. It is a unique and unforgettable experience.
