Founded on October 15 1997 Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and perseverance. Its story began with the late Reverend John L Marshall. He organized the church holding the first meeting at New Hickory Hill M B Church. Worship services started soon after at The New Bethel Educational Building in Germantown Tennessee. The congregation’s dream was to build their own church. They purchased land in 1998. A building fund was established. Members made pledges and organized fundraisers.
Tragically Reverend Marshall passed away on September 24 2001. The church community continued his vision. Construction began in October 2001. Reverend Dr Curlie Relliford served as pastor for a time. Reverend Jim Washington Sr then led as interim pastor. In January 2003 Reverend Jerry Taylor Sr was elected as pastor. He served for 19 years.
Minister Caleb A Armour Sr took on the role of interim spiritual leader in March 2022. He was subsequently elected as the fourth pastor of Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church on September 18 2022. The church celebrates 25 years of service and worship. Their dedication to serving and worshiping continues. They strive to be a beacon of light in the community.
