October 18, 2024. That date might ring a bell for some of you. It was the day voting closed for the Tnemec Company’s “Tank of the Year” competition. And guess what? Our very own Grand Prairie Water Tower was in the running! This wasn’t just any ordinary water tower. This one, standing tall near Highway 161 and Robinson Road, had been transformed into a massive work of art. Artist Eric Henn spent weeks painstakingly hand-painting three enormous murals onto the tower. These murals depict iconic Grand Prairie landmarks: Lone Star Park, the beautiful Grand Prairie lakes, and the entertainment hub, EpicCentral. They’re not just paintings. They’re a testament to the spirit of Grand Prairie and a vibrant symbol of our city’s identity. So, next time you drive by the Grand Prairie Water Tower, take a moment to appreciate its beauty and the story it tells. It’s a reminder that even something as utilitarian as a water tower can become a source of pride and artistic expression.
