A riddle wrapped in an enigma stands before us: Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir. This establishment is more than just a name. It represents a collaboration of sixteen communes in Val-de-Marne. It operates within the Île-de-France region.

Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir also known as GPSEA, came to life on January 1 2016. It was provisionally named EPT T11. Later it was called GPSEA. The purpose of GPSEA is to address local needs. These needs include urban policy and cultural facilities. Social and sports infrastructure are also included. It also handles water sanitation. Furthermore it manages household waste and social action.

The creation of Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir was influenced by the Law on the New Territorial Organization of the Republic NOTRe. This law aimed to establish public territorial entities EPTs. These EPTs would oversee local services within the Grand Paris metropolis. Paris was the only exception.

The territory faced an identity crisis early on. In the spring of 2016, a public consultation was launched. The goal was to find a suitable name. On July 6, 2016 the council decided on Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir.

This public territorial establishment covers 99.8 square kilometers. In 2022, it had a population of 324088. This translates to a density of 3247 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The headquarters of Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir is in Créteil. It is located at Place Salvador Allende. The territory is administered by a council. The council has 74 members. These members are chosen from the municipal councils.

Despite political divisions, Laurent Cathala was elected as the first president. This happened on January 11 2016. A political agreement led to a balanced bureau. It consisted of the president and fourteen vice-presidents.

Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir focuses on urban policy and cultural facilities. It also works on social and sports infrastructure. It also manages household waste. Social action is also part of its mission. It also develops a local inter-municipal urban plan.

The establishment supports social and solidarity economy initiatives. It launched a call for projects in April 2022. This initiative supports associations and cooperatives. It also supports social enterprises. The themes range from professional integration to environmental issues. It extends to assistance to individuals.

Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir helps shape the future. It addresses local needs. It fosters economic and social development in the region.
