Grace Community Church began not in a grand sanctuary but in the homes of two couples. James and Barbara Owen and John and Phyllis Tucker hosted Bible studies in 1974. Their humble gatherings marked the church’s genesis. The small group blossomed. They incorporated as a church on July 26 1974. A significant milestone in their journey.
Pastor James A Owen the first pastor guided the flock for six years. During his tenure Grace Community Church purchased a five-acre lot. This land became their permanent home the same location you see today. Pastor Owen’s departure in 1981 marked a transition. Gary Birt succeeded him. His unexpected passing in 1989 brought sadness. Yet the church pressed on.
Pastor John A Eastman provided steady leadership for 25 years starting in 1990. His dedication shaped the community. His retirement in 2014 ushered in another era. Michael McGrath became pastor. He served until 2021 planting a new church. In 2015 Henry Anderson and his wife Allie joined Grace Community Church. Henry was ordained a pastor in 2019 continuing the legacy of service.
