“Farewell To Grace Chapel Of Honolulu” These words mark a significant moment in the church’s history. This wasn’t just any farewell. It was the last service Gary and Marilyn Hargrave attended at Grace Chapel of Honolulu on Young Street.
Grace Chapel of Honolulu held a special anointing. John Robert Stevens brought this anointing with him when he moved here. His sons carried the ark of this anointing to a new house that they would build.
The move signified more than just a change of location for Grace Chapel of Honolulu. It represented a spiritual transition. As they moved the ark, Christ dwelling in them, out to their new facility in Honolulu, anticipation filled the air. They expected the glory and presence of the Lord to fill the new place. It would flow out to the nations from there.
Grace Chapel of Honolulu believes in one God. He is the creator and sustainer of all things. God is perfect and unchanging. He is completely loving, good, and holy. His knowledge, power, and presence are limitless. God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are one in essence, having the same divine attributes. Each person fulfills distinct roles. God’s purpose is to redeem a people for himself. He is worthy of wholehearted love and worship.
The Holy Bible is very important to Grace Chapel of Honolulu. They believe that God has spoken through human authors in the Scriptures. These sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God. It is self-attesting, unchanging, and without error in all it affirms. The Bible is authoritative, infallible, and sufficient for life, doctrine, and practice. It is to be trusted and obeyed.
Grace Chapel of Honolulu teaches that God created all things. Everything was made out of nothing and all was very good. He sustains and governs creation for his glory and the benefit of his creatures. God created humans in his image. He made them male and female. They should know, love, and glorify him. They should serve as stewards of the earth.
The church believes in Jesus Christ. He is the eternal Son of God. He was born of the virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life. He gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins on the cross. He died, was buried, and rose on the third day. He ascended into heaven. He sits at the right hand of God as the mediator between God and humanity. One day he will return to judge the living and the dead.

He unites believers to Christ. Christians enjoy God’s presence and fellowship through the Spirit. They are empowered for witness and ministry. Believers edify the Church and bear witness to God’s kingdom.
The mission of Grace Chapel of Honolulu is to redeem a people for himself. They come from every tribe, nation, and language. They restore creation for his glory. The Triune God sends the Church into the world. They proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and seek God’s justice and reconciliation.
Grace Chapel of Honolulu is part of the universal Church. It is the body of Christ. Jesus is the head. The Church is expressed in gathered communities. Believers assemble to pray, worship, hear God’s word, receive the sacraments, and fellowship. Christ builds and grows his Church.
Water baptism and communion are the two sacraments. They are visible signs of God’s covenant of grace. Baptism is the sacrament of entrance into the Church. Believers identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Communion is the sacrament where believers remember Christ’s sacrifice. Sacraments are means of grace in which God is present. He affirms his promises.
