The church has been serving the Cedar Park and greater Austin community. It shares the living hope found in Jesus. This has been its purpose from the beginning.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church offers various ways to connect. You can attend in person on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. You can also join online. Catch up on any Sunday service you may have missed on YouTube.
Good Shepherd offers much more than Sunday services. The church provides many volunteer opportunities. These opportunities extend both within the parish and to the wider Austin community. They serve those in need.
Consider supporting Hillside. Hillside is Good Shepherd’s school. It is located at the Hill. The center enrolls over 90 students ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Hillside aims to increase access to high-quality early-childhood education. It focuses on areas where access is limited. Volunteers can support teachers in the classroom. They can help during play, reading, lunch, and rest times.
You might also want to get involved with the prison ministry. Volunteers meet with incarcerated persons. These individuals live in a faith-based dorm. They have committed to a six-month program. This program focuses on Bible study, classes, and discipleship.
During Advent, consider participating in the giving tree ministry. Good Shepherd parishioners provide gifts for children. These gifts are for families in Austin. Without this program, these families would not have a gift to open on Christmas morning.
Good Shepherd partners with El Buen Samaritano. This Episcopal organization helps Austin families. They offer access to healthcare, workforce development, and youth education. They provide essential resources. You can donate diapers, baby wipes, and formula. These items are distributed to families through El Buen’s food pantry program.
ML&F serves those living on the streets in Austin. Volunteers prepare and deliver food. You can join the volunteer teams at the Mobile Loaves commissary. They prepare meals and load them into a food truck. Volunteers then drive the food truck to different sites in Austin.
Community First! Village is a 51-acre community. It provides affordable housing for men and women. These individuals are coming out of chronic homelessness. Good Shepherd partners with CF!V to furnish homes. Volunteers help set up furniture. They bring meals for gatherings and movie nights.
Consider helping students at elementary schools near the Hill. Good Shepherd parishioners serve as reading buddies. They act as mentors and helpers at school events. The church also runs seasonal supply drives.
Trinity Streets is a ministry in downtown Austin. They regularly serve meals to those experiencing homelessness. They provide a space for worship. Volunteers from Good Shepherd prepare and serve meals once a month.
Both campuses gather in Advent. They measure and pack over 35,000 meals. These meals are for people in nations of need across the world. Volunteers help set up the packing equipment and supplies.
Consider donating to Magdalene House. It is a sanctuary for victims of sex trafficking and prostitution. Parishioners offer support to residents. They donate household items and other necessities.
Drive a Senior is a community-based volunteer service. It supports seniors who can no longer drive. Volunteers provide in-home visits, phone calls, and social gatherings.
Good Shepherd also supports the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The church participates in a 5K walk. This raises awareness and funds for better mental health.
The Gardens on the Hill offer a chance to plant herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Volunteers are always welcome to help with the gardens.
