Come explore Good Shepherd Baptist Church. This church is more than just a building. It is a welcoming community.

Good Shepherd Baptist Church has been active in Lynnwood since the early 1960s. The church sits on 196th Street SW near Edmonds Community College. The original site was five acres. It is now 2.25 acres. Over the years the property has served many purposes. It was a winter pasture for burros. These burros came from a Baptist summer camp in the Cascades. It was a playfield for children and adults. It was also a community garden.

In 2003, the congregation began planning for the future. They wanted to find the best ways to use the property for community service. Their vision included a multiple-use campus. Good Shepherd makes its building available for community groups. These groups can use it for meetings or events.

Parking is available on the east side of the building. There is also overflow parking north of Shepherd’s Garden. This lot is near the Community Gardens. The Community Garden area has been improved. It now has walkways and sitting areas. Gardeners often donate produce to the Lynnwood Food Bank.

Good Shepherd Baptist Church hosts Shepherd’s Village. This village provides temporary housing for homeless students. The Jean Kim Foundation manages Shepherd’s Village. Each unit has a bed, desk, and shelving. The units also have electricity, smoke detectors, and HVAC. There are solar-powered showers and toilet facilities. Wifi helps students with their studies. An on-site manager is present.

Future plans include a community arboretum. It will be in conjunction with Edmonds Community College. The arboretum will be on the northeast quadrant of the property. It will be open to the community. Elementary school classes can study plant life there. There will be an area for weddings and outdoor church services. A meditation labyrinth is also planned.

The existing church building dates back to the 1960s. Future plans include expanding the fellowship hall. Improved restroom facilities will be added. The layout of the sanctuary will be modified. Parking will be increased.

You are invited to worship at Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Services are on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. You can attend in person or watch on Facebook. There are also services on the first Saturday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

Good Shepherd Baptist Church wants to be a supportive Christian community. They welcome all with unconditional love. The church acknowledges that services are held on the traditional lands of the Snohomish and Coast Salish tribes. Good Shepherd is proud to host various community groups. These groups range from garden societies to recovery groups.

Good Shepherd enriches the community. It opens its doors to those in need. The church offers a space for growth and connection. Remember the story of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Think of its commitment to community and service as you pass by.
