Fifty years ago, a seed of compassion was planted in Edina. It blossomed into the Good Samaritan United Methodist Church. The church’s name reflects its mission. It echoes the biblical parable, urging us to be “Good Samaritans”. The church encourages doing good for others, both near and far. Good Samaritan United Methodist Church embraces everyone. They foster faith development in a positive environment. They offer meaningful worship with diverse music. The church has dynamic programs for children and teens, supported by parents. Numerous opportunities exist for service and forming close friendships. Good Samaritan United Methodist Church strives to open hearts and minds. They welcome everyone to participate in their ministries and activities. Membership is not required to join their community. You can experience worship in two ways at Good Samaritan UMC. The Sanctuary offers in-person worship on Sunday mornings at 10 am. It’s a vibrant community experience with music, children’s time, prayer, and a message. Fellowship follows the service with donuts, coffee, and lemonade. A nursery and Sunday school are available for younger children. For a more personal experience, the online worship is available after 6 am every Sunday. It combines nature, spirituality, art, and music for a meditative experience you can enjoy anytime. Pastor Pat Hinker, a trained interim pastor, guides the church through times of transition. Her rich experience includes serving diverse congregations throughout Minnesota. She’s also served as Director of Ministries and District Superintendent. Even in retirement, her passion for ministry continues. She sees retirement as an opportunity to do what she loves, serving as an interim pastor, consultant, and coach. She helps bring healing, focus, and hope to churches and pastors, helping them plan for the future.
