Founded in 1965 the Golden Gate Christian Reformed Church began in a living room. Rev and Mrs Peter Yang held the first service with just sixteen people. This small gathering blossomed. The church moved to two other locations before settling at 378 18th Avenue in 1984. Mayor Diane Feinstein even declared April 22 1984 Golden Gate Christian Reformed Church Day. The church’s outreach was extensive. It included a school for developmentally disabled children. There was an after-school program a Chinese school and even Agapeland.

Today the Golden Gate Christian Church boasts a diverse congregation. Approximately 450 worshippers attend services. Three distinct services are offered Mandarin Cantonese and English.
