Did GMF AeroAsia always call this place home? No. GMF AeroAsia’s story begins in 1949. It started as a modest technical division of Garuda Indonesia Airlines. Back then, operations were split between Kemayoran and Halim Perdanakusuma airports in Jakarta. Fast forward to 1984. GMF AeroAsia took a major step. It relocated to its current home at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It was rebranded as the Division of Maintenance & Engineering. This move marked a significant shift towards independence. GMF AeroAsia continued to evolve, becoming a separate business unit in 1996 under the name Garuda Maintenance Facilities AeroAsia. The company truly took flight in 2002. It officially separated from Garuda Indonesia. It became the independent entity we know today as PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia. GMF AeroAsia didn’t stop there. In 2015, it celebrated a major achievement. It inaugurated Hangar 4. Then in 2017, GMF AeroAsia reached a new milestone. It went public on the Indonesia Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol GMFI. The company now stands as PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk. GMF AeroAsia has grown from humble beginnings to become a major player in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul. It serves the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
