Journey with me back to 1957. A Finnish missionary couple, the Kossilas, felt a divine calling. They were led to establish a church in the Upper Serangoon/Tampines area of Singapore. This was the genesis of Glad Tidings Church. Singapore’s suburbs were rapidly expanding. The Kossilas began holding services in open-air tents. They brought the gospel to the burgeoning community. Soon, Reverend William P K Lee and his wife Rachel took the reins of Glad Tidings Church. The Kossilas then continued their missionary work in Thailand. From its humble beginnings, Glad Tidings Church had a global vision. In 1970, the church embarked on its first overseas mission trip to Tanjong Pinang. This marked the beginning of numerous missions. Glad Tidings Church actively participated in training local leaders. They supported the planting of new churches throughout Indonesia. Years later, in 2005, leadership transitioned to Pastor Lawrence Lee. He served as Senior Pastor until April 2019. Dr. Paul Ng then became Senior Pastor in May 2019. Glad Tidings Church continued to flourish. It remained a beacon of faith within the community.
