Gilwell Park is a 44-acre gem. It sits on the edge of Epping Forest in London. This park is significant to the world scouting movement. It proudly displays buildings that represent major faiths. The Gilwell Park Synagogue is one of them.
The Gilwell Park Synagogue is part of the Faith Walk. This walk takes participants around different faith structures. Participants learn about different faiths in a neutral setting. This promotes understanding and respect. The Faith Walk reflects UK Scouts’ commitment to inclusivity. It welcomes people of different religions or no formal faith.
Gilwell Park also features a Buddhist Sala. There is also the Gilwell Park Mosque. An outdoor chapel is also present as well as a Roman Catholic Chapel. Each structure adds to the diverse religious landscape of Gilwell Park.
The Gilwell Park Mosque became a reality through the Muslim Scout Fellowship. They worked with The Scout Association. They raised funds through various activities. These ranged from meeting donors to events with Muslim scout groups. Their united efforts completed the charismatic Gilwell Park Mosque.
The Gilwell Park Mosque’s inauguration took place on November 14 2015. Over 200 members attended. They included UKMSF founders, donors, and scout leaders. They came from around the world to open the Mosque.
Gilwell Park welcomes many visitors. Annually, events attract between 3000 to 8000 people. This number excludes international visitors, campers, and local users. It is estimated over 500000 people visit Gilwell Park each year. This makes it a platform to share messages of different religions and understanding.
