Think of the dedication required to build a church with limited resources.
The cornerstone for the permanent Gereja Santo Andreas was laid in 1993. Jakarta’s West Mayor Sudjoko Tirtowidjojo and Archbishop Leo Soekoto SJ attended the ceremony. Construction took 18 months. Its organic design is reminiscent of Notre Dame du Haut in France a subtle tribute to architectural inspiration.
More construction followed in 2002. This time it focused on educational facilities for the growing Santo Andreas School. A new building dedicated to Saint Thomas Aquinas was opened in 2003. Later in 2006 Wisma Siti Mariam was completed to address parking and gathering space needs.
