Clutching my grandmother’s worn Indonesian Bible, I first encountered Gereja Philadelphia. It was a sweltering Jakarta afternoon. Gereja Philadelphia offered a cool sanctuary. Officially known as GPSDI/UPCI Church Jakarta, this church stands on Jalan Daan Mogot Number 167 B. The building itself exudes a tranquil atmosphere, a testament to its strong history within the Christian community of Jakarta. Gereja Philadelphia serves as a vital hub for Christian worship. It hosts a variety of services. These include regular Sunday services (morning, afternoon, and evening), mass, Easter services, Holy Thursday, baptisms, Christmas celebrations, and Good Friday observances. Gereja Philadelphia is more than just a building. It is a place where the community gathers, worships, and celebrates their faith. It’s a place of solace and spiritual growth in the heart of Jakarta.
