Can a church be born from a whisper? For Gereja Pengantar Injil, the Gospel Providence Church, the answer is a resounding yes. Here, nestled within the vibrant heart of Jakarta, stands a testament to the power of shared faith and a longing for connection. Gereja Pengantar Injil didn’t simply appear. It emerged from the whispers within Covenant City Church (CCC). In 2016, CCC began offering English-language services. As the congregation grew, a new whisper emerged: a desire for services in Bahasa Indonesia. This quiet yearning led to community groups and translated sermons. Then, on December 19, 2021, a new voice was heard. Gereja Pengantar Injil held its first full-liturgy service in Bahasa Indonesia, originally known as the CCC Afternoon Service. From whispers to a full-fledged service, Gereja Pengantar Injil was born. This new church embraced its vision: to disciple for the glory of God (Soli Deo Gloria). Their foundation: the entire truth of God’s Word (Sola Scriptura). Their driving force: grace (Sola Gratia) through faith (Sola Fide), centered solely on the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Solus Christus), impacting their surroundings. Gereja Pengantar Injil, or GPC, operates on five core values, summarized by the acronym GRACE. Gospel Centeredness, the belief that the Gospel is the core of Christian faith. Reach Out, the intentional response to God’s call to reach souls. Authentic Community, embracing individuals from all backgrounds to grow together in Christ’s grace. Cultural Engagement, encouraging believers to integrate their faith into every aspect of life. Equipped to Serve, empowering each disciple to grow and live out the Gospel through various activities. Gereja Pengantar Injil continues to grow, a living testament to the power of shared faith and a whispered prayer. It’s a place where whispers become voices and a community finds its home.
