Gereja Pantekosta Tabernakel

Established on August 25 1970 the Gereja Pantekosta Tabernakel stands as a testament to faith. It’s a significant part of Jakarta’s religious landscape. This church wasn’t built overnight. Its story is rooted in the earlier Bethel Pentecostal Temple in Seattle Washington. Two missionaries Rev Van Klaveren and Rev Groesbeek carried the Gospel to Indonesia. Their journey led them to Pastor F G Van Gessel. They joined De Bond Voor Evangelisatie. In 1923 the Vereninging De Pinkstergemeente was established in Cepu. It later became the Gereja Pentakosta. Internal disagreements caused splits. Pastor F G Van Gessel and Pastor H C Senduk formed the Gereja Bethel Injil Sepenuh. Pastor Van Gessel established a church and Bible school in Surabaya. His teachings spread quickly. One of his students a Javanese man named In Juwono played a pivotal role. In 1957 the GBIS split. Pastor G Sutupo and Pastor In Juwono founded the Gereja Bethel Tabernakel. Then in 1970 another split occurred. Pastor In Juwono established the Gereja Pantekosta Tabernakel. He continued Pastor Van Gessel’s legacy of the Bride’s Teaching in the Light of the Tabernacle. He nurtured many pastors including Pastor Pong Dongalemba Pastor Paulus Budiono and Pastor Peter Williantono. Even today the Gereja Pantekosta Tabernakel’s influence spans Indonesia. The church emphasizes three core services a Fellowship service a Prayer and Worship service and a Bible study service.
