In 1974 a humble ministry began. It started in an old church. Most of the congregation were elderly. The building was simple. It wasn’t yet called the Gereja Pantekosta Jemaat Gerizzim. Mother Ester Lie pioneered this pastoral ministry. Many challenges arose. Church elders didn’t cooperate. The treasurer absconded with funds. Land ownership was unclear. Economic resources were scarce. Yet God intervened. He gradually expanded the ministry. He entrusted it to new members.
The Gereja Pantekosta Jemaat Gerizzim faced numerous obstacles. These difficulties tested the faith of the early members. However their perseverance paid off. By 1983 Mother Lie boldly renovated the pastor’s house. This renovation took a year. In 1984 she established the Yayasan Pendidikan Kristen Syalom. This Christian Education Foundation addressed the community’s needs.
The church building needed repair. It was dilapidated. Mother Lie’s faith fueled the renovation. She started construction despite lacking funds. God provided. He brought people to help. By 1991 the Gereja Pantekosta Jemaat Gerizzim was completed.
In 1994 the church was officially renamed Gereja Pantekosta Jakarta. It gained legal recognition. In 1999 Mother Lie appointed Pastor Ronny Tanujaya. He became the associate pastor. He helped with the growing ministry. The Gereja Pantekosta Jemaat Gerizzim continued to expand its services. It established several branches in various regions.
Today the Gereja Pantekosta Jemaat Gerizzim stands as a testament. It’s a testament to faith perseverance and God’s provision. The church’s vision is to be impactful.
