The GPdI’s growth wasn’t without challenges. The Japanese occupation forced a name change from its Dutch origins. Internal divisions led to the creation of other churches. The Assemblies of God and GBI are just two examples. Yet the GPdI persevered. Its roots ran deep.
The church’s doctrine emphasizes the Holy Spirit. It focuses on Acts 2. The disciples received the fullness of the Holy Spirit. This empowered them to spread the Gospel. The GPdI maintains a strong belief in the second coming of Jesus. It also believes in an anti-Christ. A 3.5 year reign is prophesied before a thousand years of peace.
The GPdI’s structure is impressive. A Grand Conference every five years elects national leadership. The Central Assembly leads the church. Regional Assemblies and commissions manage local affairs. The current leader is Pastor DR John Weol. He guides this massive organization.
