Established on July 28 1952 Gereja Pantekosa Isa Almasih stands as a testament to faith. It is a beacon of Pentecostal Christianity in Indonesia. The church’s history is interwoven with the stories of missionaries who braved long journeys to spread their beliefs.

The story of Gereja Pantekosa Isa Almasih begins with Rev Cornelius E Groesbeek and Rev Richard Cick van Klavern. These missionaries arrived in Jakarta then called Batavia in March 1921. They travelled from Seattle USA by ship. Their journey marked the start of Pentecostalism in Indonesia.

Initially the missionaries served in Bali for one and a half years. They performed miracles that drew many to their services. Later Rev Richard Dick van Klavern established a mission post in Jakarta at Pecenongan street.

This mission post flourished and expanded with a branch opening in 1927 on Patekoan street now Perniagaan street. Rev Richard Dick van Klavern received assistance from Br Klerks and Zr Bowerr in ministering to the congregation at Patekoan. Among the devoted members was Pdt Lim Hong Seng.

In 1935 Pdt Lim Hong Seng took over the pastoral duties. His dedication ensured the church continued to thrive. Then in 1969 Pdt Samuel Budhi continued the pastoral legacy. After Pdt Dr Samuel Budhi passed away on October 21 2001 his wife Ibu Pdt Dr Hanna Trijanti Budhi assumed leadership.

Today Gereja Pantekosa Isa Almasih is located on Perniagaan street in West Jakarta. This location serves as the Sinode headquarters. From this base the church oversees its various ministries and congregations across Indonesia.

The church is more than just a place of worship. It is a center for community and education. Gereja Pantekosa Isa Almasih runs several Almasih Christian schools. These schools include SDK Almasih SMPK Almasih and SMUK Almasih.

These institutions provide education rooted in Christian values. Almasih Christian School began in 1986 as a kindergarten. It was founded to nurture a new generation with Christian values. Over time it expanded to include elementary junior high and senior high schools.

Gereja Pantekosa Isa Almasih has faced challenges and changes throughout its history. It has remained steadfast in its mission to spread the Gospel. The church has adapted to the evolving needs of its community.

The rapid growth of Pentecostalism in Indonesia is a testament to its appeal. The faith addresses the spiritual and practical needs of its followers. The church’s emphasis on community engagement has contributed to its success.

So as you stand here take a moment to reflect on the journey of Gereja Pantekosa Isa Almasih. Consider the dedication of its leaders and the unwavering faith of its members. It is a living testament to the power of faith.
