GBI Mawar Sharon Jakarta is a Christian church in Jakarta. It operates under the Bethel Indonesia Church Synod. Its story begins with Pdt DR Jacob Nahuway MA. He felt a calling in a small village in Maluku.
Nahuway ventured to Jakarta. He studied at STT Bethel Indonesia. In 1978, he began serving at the Bethel Indonesia Church on Jl Kwitang No 2. The GBI Synod entrusted the pastoral care of the church to Nahuway. This marked the birth of GBI Mawar Sharon Jakarta.
The church moved several times as its congregation grew. It held services in various buildings. These included BALPERUM, Sasana Dhaya Sakti and even a hotel.
In 1995, GBI Mawar Sharon Jakarta purchased land. It was located on Jalan Hibrida Timur in Kelapa Gading Permai. A church building was constructed. Pdt David Yonggi Cho inaugurated it. This building is now known as Chapel GBI Mawar Sharon.
In 2010, the Dome of Mawar Sharon was inaugurated. It has a capacity of 10000 seats. It represents the faith of the GBI Mawar Sharon Jakarta family. The church aimed to bring more people to Jesus Christ.
Pdt DR Jacob Nahuway MA passed away in 2021. Pdt Yohannes Nahuway M Th succeeded him. He had faithfully served alongside his father.
In 2022, the Dome of Mawar Sharon was renamed Dome of Jacob Nahuway. A monument was erected to honor Pdt DR Jacob Nahuway MA. It commemorated his service and faith.
