Have you ever felt the quiet strength of faith in a place of worship? Welcome to the Gereja Katolik Risen Christ. Right here on Jalan Ayer Itam in Ayer Itam you stand before a testament to enduring community. This church isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a living story.

The Gereja Katolik Risen Christ’s story begins in 1968. A modest chapel was born from a renovated bungalow. Bishop Gregory Yong blessed this humble beginning. This wasn’t a grand cathedral. It was a simple act of faith a foundation laid on devotion.

Years passed. The congregation grew. The church expanded its grounds buying three plots of land between 1988 and 2003. In 2002 Father Augustine Wong conducted a census. He discovered around 2000 Catholics lived in Air Itam and Paya Terubong. The need for more space was clear.

So they built. A parish center rose a three-story building. It held a hall classrooms for catechism. The old bungalow became a priests’ residence and parish office. By 2009 the old church was ready for a transformation.

The redesign was complete by October 2010. A dedication ceremony marked the opening of the renovated Gereja Katolik Risen Christ on January 1 2011. Bishop Antony Selvanayagam led the service a moment of celebration and renewal. The Gereja Katolik Risen Christ stands as a symbol of adaptation growth and unwavering faith.

Today Father Esmond Chua leads the parish. He’s assisted by Franciscan priests Father Crispus Mosinoh and Father Gilbert James Augustine. The Gereja Katolik Risen Christ continues to serve its community. Daily masses are held in English Mandarin and Tamil. The church is a vibrant hub a place where faith is shared hope is renewed and the spirit of community thrives. This is more than a building it is the heart of Ayer Itam. It is the Gereja Katolik Risen Christ.
