Amidst the bustling energy of Jakarta, discover the Gereja HKBP Kapuk Sawah. This unassuming church holds a special place in the hearts of its congregation. Gereja HKBP Kapuk Sawah has witnessed the changing tides of time and the unwavering faith of its community. In May 2022, a new chapter began at Gereja HKBP Kapuk Sawah. Praeses Bernard Manik, the leader of HKBP District VIII DKI Jakarta, officially installed Pastor Bonar Napitupulu as the new leader. Pastor Bonar took the reins from Pastor Sampe Waruwu, who embarked on a new mission at HKBP Shalom Wamena Resort in Papua. The transition was marked by a poignant ceremony filled with music and tributes. The elderly choir from HKBP Kebon Jeruk, the Solideo group, the women’s choir from Gereja HKBP Kapuk Sawah, and the elderly choir from Taman Mini all offered their harmonious voices. Speeches and gifts commemorated Pastor Sampe Waruwu’s dedicated service of one year and eight months at Gereja HKBP Kapuk Sawah. Even before the formal proceedings, Praeses Bernard Manik took a moment to connect with the Sunday school children. He acknowledged their presence and importance within the church community. The jubilant Sunday service, intertwined with the farewell and welcome, resonated with the theme of “God’s Power that Gives Life.” Praeses Manik’s sermon drew upon the story of Tabitha, emphasizing God’s authority over life and death. The Gereja HKBP Kapuk Sawah isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to the enduring power of faith, community, and the continuous cycle of spiritual leadership. The church stands as a beacon of hope, reflecting the vibrant spirit of its congregation and their commitment to their beliefs.
