Joy personified in bronze. That’s what you see before you. This is the Gerd Müller Statue. It stands as a lasting tribute to a football legend.

The Gerd Müller Statue is located outside the Allianz Arena in Munich. It is the home of FC Bayern Munich. The statue honors Gerd Müller. He was one of the greatest goalscorers of all time.

The statue’s story began with the fans. The Kurt Landauer Foundation organized donations. They wanted to honor Müller’s legacy. FC Bayern joined them. On September 12, 2023, the statue was unveiled.

Uli Hoeneß spoke at the unveiling. He is the honorary president of FC Bayern. He said Müller was an incredible player and person. Hoeneß added that Müller and Franz Beckenbauer are icons of FC Bayern.

Karel Fron created the statue. He is the sculptor. He wanted to capture Müller’s joy. The statue shows Müller with his arms raised in celebration. It is not meant to be theatrical. It shows pure joy.

The Gerd Müller Statue is larger than life. It is one and a half times Müller’s actual size. The statue is made of bronze. It was cast in twelve pieces. These pieces included his feet, legs, hands, arms and head.

First, a life-sized clay model was made. It was scanned in 3D. Then, a plastic model was printed in 1.5 times the size. A wax model was created from this. Finally, twelve molds were made. These were used to cast the bronze pieces. The pieces were welded together. They were smoothed to create the final statue.

The Gerd Müller Statue stands on a stone base. The total height is about 4.2 meters. It weighs one ton. The statue captures Müller in his FC Bayern jersey. He is celebrating a goal.

Müller played for Bayern Munich from 1964. He won many titles. These included four Bundesliga titles. He also secured four German Cups. Müller lifted the European Cup three times. He was a European and World Champion with Germany.

He scored 365 goals in 427 German top-flight games. In the 1971-1972 season, he scored 40 goals. This was a record for many years. Robert Lewandowski broke it in 2020-2021 with 41 goals.

The Gerd Müller Statue is more than art. It embodies the spirit of FC Bayern. It reflects the love of the fans. It is a reminder of Müller’s impact. He inspired generations. It is a place for fans to remember a legend.
