“Ever heard of a village that remembers its roots eight centuries later?” I am talking about Gemeinde Threna 1205-2005. This place has a long history. Let’s dive into the story of Threna.
Threna’s story began in 1205. It was the seat of Wulferus von Trenowe. He even gave the place its name. Fast forward to 1421 and Threna fell under markgraeflichem Gericht. In 1556 Dippold von Schönfeld gained control of the village. The village was originally the mother community but became a subsidiary community of Belgershain in 1620.
In 1782 Threna had 191 residents over 10 years old. There were also 169 cows and 44 horses. The village had 18 Hufen. A fire devastated Threna in 1854. The old schoolhouse went up in flames. But a new one was dedicated in 1855.
Threna experienced changes after World War II. Only one farmer was dispossessed during the Bodenreform. However 21 new farmers and 11 smallholders settled in the area. The LPG “Vorwärts” was founded in 1955. Later the KAP Threna was founded on January 1 1973. The LPG Pflanzenproduktion Threna was established on January 1 1978.
In 1995 Threna became part of Belgershain. Today Threna has about 1000 residents. A village church from the 13th century stands at its heart. The Heinische Rittergut is also central to the village. Farms of different sizes line the Dorfstrasse.
Since 1990 a new residential area has developed. It features houses and apartments on the edge of the village. Threna thrives with craft businesses. There is also a hotel a business park and farms.
