Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Jakarta, lies GBI Sawangan, a beacon of faith and community. GBI Sawangan isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the power of vision and obedience. It’s intertwined with the inspiring story of Pastor Wiryohadi. He had a vision from God: feed his congregation. Starting with a small plot of land, Pastor Wiryo diligently cultivated the land, sharing the harvest with his church members. Soon, God expanded his vision: feed the city, inspired by Jeremiah 29:7, “Seek peace and well-being for the city…for in its peace you will have peace.” Initially unsure how to accomplish this monumental task, Pastor Wiryo researched hydroponic farming. He began with a single greenhouse. As his knowledge grew, so did the number of greenhouses. When the pandemic hit, Pastor Wiryo was already feeding the city. His small act of faith blossomed. The farm, now known as House of Bread (inspired by Bethlehem, Jesus’s birthplace), encompasses greenhouses, livestock, and fish ponds. It sustains over 300 families, provides jobs for more than 150 people, and supports 100 resellers. Pastor Wiryo even equipped families with freezers, transforming them into resellers and providing an alternate income source. GBI Sawangan and the House of Bread stand as a testament to Pastor Wiryo’s faithfulness, echoing Matthew 25:21, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” GBI Sawangan is more than a church. It is a living embodiment of faith in action, a place where a God-sized vision became a reality, nourishing both body and soul.
