What if a church began in a humble, almost dilapidated hut? GBI Rehobot Perdatam’s story starts just like that. In 1987, Pastor Erastus Sabdono began his ministry in a small, 10×5 meter hut in Perdatam, Kalibata, South Jakarta. This unassuming structure was the first home of GBI Rehobot, initially under the Gereja Bethel Indonesia synod. The congregation was small, just a handful of people seeking spiritual guidance. GBI Rehobot Perdatam’s early days were marked by simple faith and intimate gatherings. Imagine the sound of a guitar and ketipung drum filling the small space, accompanying heartfelt praises. Fast forward to 2000, and Rehobot Ministry was born. The vision was clear: “Building the Family of the Kingdom of Heaven in Truth”. GBI Rehobot Perdatam and Rehobot Ministry recognized the importance of providing solid spiritual nourishment to its members. They aimed to guide their followers toward a deeper understanding of the Bible and a life of purpose. GBI Rehobot Perdatam isn’t just a place of worship; it is known as a “Teaching Church.” The focus is on fostering a community dedicated to studying the Bible. This dedication extends beyond Sunday services. The church uses various media and technologies to spread its teachings through its Truth network, reaching a global audience. They even host Truth Seminars, addressing contemporary issues with biblical insights. GBI Rehobot Perdatam expanded its presence throughout Jakarta and Bekasi, establishing eight independent churches. Pastor Erastus Sabdono, alongside Pastor Kornelis Kiong, now leads the GSKI Rehobot Kelapa Gading congregation. Their commitment to the church is evident in the regular services and progressive activities held at GBI Rehobot Perdatam and other locations. GBI Rehobot Perdatam’s journey is a testament to the power of humble beginnings and a dedicated vision. From a small hut to a network of churches, the message of truth continues to resonate within its community.
