Established in 1936 and celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2011, the school takes its name from the medieval manor of Gaynes in Upminster. The manor, held by the d’Engayne family from 1218 to around 1360, is a reminder of the past and a testament to the school’s longevity. Initially a community school managed by Havering London Borough Council, Gaynes School transformed into an academy in July 2018. Today, the school is sponsored by the Loxford School Trust and continues to provide a coeducational environment for students.
