Listen closely. Gandul whispers tales of transformation. It evolved from a small village to a bustling kelurahan. Gandul sits in the Cinere district of Depok. This area tells a story of growth and change.
Once, Gandul was just a kampung. It belonged to the Desa Sawangan. Imagine fields of rice. They stretched across 195 hectares. Another 151 hectares were used for other farming. Life moved at a slower pace back then.
Gandul’s story took a turn. On January 11, 1992, Limo was formed from Sawangan. Gandul joined Limo along with seven other desa. This was a significant administrative shift. The area started to take a new shape.
Then came the creation of Kota Depok. Gandul became part of Limo. Its status elevated. It transformed into a kelurahan. This happened when Depok became a city. Cinere became a kecamatan in Kota Depok. Gandul was now a part of Cinere. This administrative dance continued.
In 1973, Pertamina explored Gandul for oil and gas. Imagine the excitement. The potential discovery could change everything. Pertamina Unit III even provided land. They created plots for their employees. These employees settled in Rukun Warga 01. Gandul became home to Pertamina workers.
Let’s talk about Gandul’s leaders. Toha was the Kepala Desa from 1950 to 1957. Mursid took over from 1957 to 1973. Saimin HD led from 1973 to 1998. Mursalim Saimin HD followed from 1998 to 1999. These figures shaped Gandul’s early path.
Then came the Kepala Kelurahan. Mursalim Saimin HD served from 1999 to 2006. Tengku Mawardi Ali Zainy followed from 2006 to 2009. Aliyah held the position until 2022. Ilham has been in charge since 2022. Each leader left their mark on Gandul.
Gandul shares borders with several areas. Ciganjur and Cipedak lie to the north and east. Krukut is to the south. Cinere is to the west. These neighborhoods connect Gandul to the wider region.
In 1981, Gandul had 5,649 residents. By 2020, the population had grown to 24,491. This shows the rapid growth of the area. Gandul has become a more populated and lively place.
