Did Gallery-O-Rama always have such a catchy name? Here in the vibrant Polk Gulch neighborhood of San Francisco, Gallery-O-Rama stands as a testament to the city’s quirky spirit. Gallery-O-Rama isn’t just an art gallery. It’s a gift shop, a studio space, and a community hub. Kaytea Petro, the owner and operator, envisioned a space that keeps San Francisco weird and wonderful. She also wanted to provide guidance for artists in their creative practices.
Gallery-O-Rama’s story began in March 2023 as a pop-up gallery and artist studios. The goal was to support local artists and bring something unique to the Polk Street neighborhood. The community embraced it. Because of the strong support from artists and neighbors, Gallery-O-Rama transitioned from a temporary pop-up to a permanent fixture. The gallery’s commitment to showcasing conceptually strong art shows, workshops, and events has helped coalesce and strengthen the local art community. Gallery-O-Rama even plans to expand. In 2025, Kaytea Petro will collaborate with Kalie Capadona of 2358MRKT gallery to create a new gallery and studio space at the 1920 Polk Street location. They’re calling on the community for help in naming the new venture.
