Have you ever passed by Galewood Park? It’s right there, on the south side of West Bloomingdale Avenue, just a few blocks west of Central Avenue. It’s a great place to spend some time. Galewood Park is a Chicago Park District property. The park is not huge, sitting on a little more than two acres. But that doesn’t stop Galewood Park from being a great place to get some exercise. You’ll see people coming and going from the various facilities. They come for a variety of reasons. There is a playground, a walking path, and a small fieldhouse. The fieldhouse has a game room and even a playground with a spray feature. Many people will come to work out in one of the fitness classes. The park even holds a Halloween party for the neighborhood. It’s a great place to live and play. The park’s origin dates all the way back to the 1920s, when the North Austin Manor Neighborhood Club purchased the property and then started developing a playground. The park was then later purchased by the Northwest Park District. After the Chicago Park District took over in 1934, they added basketball courts and a volleyball court. Galewood Park is now a thriving part of the community. It’s a place where people come to relax, play, and connect with one another. It’s a place that’s full of life and energy. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, make sure to stop by and experience everything Galewood Park has to offer.
