Established in 1992 Galatasaray University stands proudly. Its history however stretches far further back. It’s rooted in the Galatasaray High School founded in 1481. This makes Galatasaray University a truly unique institution. It’s a blend of ancient tradition and modern scholarship.

Imagine Presidents Mitterrand and Ozal. They met at Galatasaray High School. An agreement was signed there. This agreement created Galatasaray University. Coskun Kirca the Turkish Ambassador to France played a crucial role. He helped make this historic agreement happen.

Galatasaray University is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a symbol of Franco-Turkish cooperation. It’s the only Francophone university in Turkey. The university offers a wide range of subjects. These include economics law communications and engineering. It boasts five faculties and two institutes. Approximately 200 teachers educate around 2500 students.

The university participates in Erasmus and Socrates exchange programs. Each year around 50 European students study at Galatasaray University. Conversely 100 Galatasaray students travel to France. They partake in these invaluable exchange programs.

The university has faced challenges. In 2013 a fire broke out. It damaged a building used by professors and secretaries. Thankfully the fire was contained. It did not cause any major setbacks to the university’s operations.
