Over the centuries, Frommershausen has been called different names. In 1196, it was Drumershusen. Around 1200, it was Fromershusen. In 1296, it was Vrumershusen. These names show how language evolved.

In Frommershausen, life is good. There is a primary school for the little ones. A municipal kindergarten cares for the youngest residents. A multi-purpose hall hosts events and celebrations. A barbecue hut can be rented for parties of 50 to 60 people.

In 1107, Kunimund gave his property in Frommershausen to Hersfeld Monastery. Around 1200, 1296, and 1306, Weissenstein Monastery was a landlord in Frommershausen. In 1325, Hardehausen Monastery acquired land in Frommershausen.

After the Reformation, Frommershausen was initially part of Simmershausen and Obervelmar. In 1761, it became a vicarage of Simmershausen. In 1870, it became a branch of Obervellmar again. In 1971, a parish Vellmar-Frommershausen was established.

Frommershausen may have had a chapel as early as 1107. A priest was mentioned in 1252. A church existed in 1258. The late Gothic hall church has a tower with Romanesque parts. It was renovated in 1960 and 1988.

Today, Frommershausen is a vibrant part of Vellmar. It combines history with modern life. The village has grown. It offers a high quality of life for its residents.
