Large Gothic windows allow light to filter through, illuminating the space. Above the crossing rises a square, open tower. This tower, capped with a pointed spire, acts as a beacon within the cemetery grounds. In 1998, Friedhofskapelle Riensberg underwent renovations. Its excellent acoustics were discovered. Since 2006, the chapel has hosted various events. Music performances and readings now fill the space with life. The cemetery keeper’s house, with its stepped gable, houses the cemetery administration. Nearby, the former mortuary once contained a dissecting room and a mortuary chamber. A unique treasure resides within Friedhofskapelle Riensberg: a pipe organ. Built around 1860 by W. H. Hawker of Exeter, England, this organ’s pipework sits within a swell box behind a blind prospectus.
