You might think of Frichs as just another factory in Aarhus. But Frichs is so much more than that. Frichs is a company with a rich history that goes back to 1854 when it was founded by the engineer Søren Frich. It’s the oldest Danish-owned industrial company in Denmark. Frichs started out making tools for agriculture and supplies for newly built railways. Over time, the company started producing steam engines and boilers for mills and smaller factories. Frichs even created locomotives for the Danish State Railways. In fact, for many years, a good part of the power used by Danish trains came from machines made by Frichs. They stopped making locomotives in 1977, but they are still a very important company today. They develop power generation plants and have a strong focus on optimizing the use of biogas and vegetable oils. They’ve become pioneers in creating a cleaner environment and reducing poverty in developing countries. Think of Frichs as a company that has gone through many changes over the years and has always been at the forefront of innovation. It is a testament to the creative spirit of Denmark.
