Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara. He became one of the greatest rock stars. His journey began far from here on the island of Zanzibar. In 1964, his family fled to London. They escaped the island’s violent revolution. The Bulsara family settled in Feltham. That was at 22 Gladstone Avenue. Freddie lived there on and off until about 1970.
Even before he was known as Freddie Mercury, he was known as Fred. He signed letters as Fred Bulsara until 1970.

Rumors of Freddie’s HIV status circulated in the 1980s. He denied them at the time. In 1990, he recorded Queen’s last album “Innuendo”. It reached number one in the UK charts.
Freddie Mercury died on November 24 1991. He passed away from bronchial pneumonia at his London home. This was just a day after announcing he had AIDS. He was only 45 years old.
