Didn’t they leave their mark on aviation history. Welcome to the Fred and Barbara Clark Telling Restoration Hangar. It is located at the CAF National Airbase at Dallas Executive Airport in Dallas, Texas. This hangar isn’t just a storage space. It’s a hub of activity for the Commemorative Air Force.
The Fred and Barbara Clark Telling Restoration Hangar hosts significant events. These include the General Membership Meeting. Members gather here to shape the CAF’s future. They participate in elections and celebrate individual achievements. New CAF Colonels even take their oath here.
The General Membership Meeting takes place annually. In 2023, the meeting occurred on November 10. The agenda included the election of nominees. Rodney Burchfield, Dan Fordice, and Kathy Mizell were among them. Members unable to attend could request absentee ballots.
In 2024, the meeting was held on October 4. Nominees included L. C. “Buddy” Cooksey, Robert Lawrence, Bob Stenevik, and Denise Walker. These meetings offer a chance for members to connect. They share valuable insights with the General Staff and Headquarters Staff.
Rodney Burchfield played a vital role in the CAF National Airbase relocation. He also helped secure New Market Tax Credits. These were for the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center.
Dan Fordice has accumulated over 7,400 flying hours. He is involved in multiple CAF Units. Dan also founded the Southern Heritage Air Foundation. This foundation operates a museum and maintains airworthy warbirds.
Kathy Mizell brought her commercial business experience to the CAF. She works to increase membership and encourage participation.
L.C. “Buddy” Cooksey held senior ratings in various aircraft. He played a key role in the CAF Operations team’s safety record.
Robert Lawrence focused on growing membership. He also sought ways to increase revenue for the organization.
Bob Stenevik served as the Director of Safety and Flight Operations. He later became Vice President of Safety, Operations, and Maintenance.
Denise Walker is the lead narrator for TORA. She aims to grow membership and promote member retention.
The Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center broke ground in March 2020. This 47,000-square-foot center includes a STEM Innovation aircraft hangar. It also features classrooms and exhibit space.
The James C. Ray Education Wing offers workshop and classroom space. It is equipped with science and mechanical equipment. The Victor N. Agather Hangar provides space for aircraft display and maintenance. The Arsenal of Democracy Atrium showcases unique artifacts. These include the WWII Nose Art collection.
