In the heart of Aarhus, nestled within the vibrant Aarhus University campus, lies Forskerparken. A hub of innovation and collaboration, Forskerparken has a fascinating story to tell. Forskerparken’s tale begins in 1986. It was Denmark’s first research park, a groundbreaking initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic research and the business world. The founders, a coalition of businesses, organizations, and institutions, envisioned a space where scientific discoveries could transform into thriving companies. The initial building offered 2,500 square meters of space. Demand quickly outstripped supply. Expansions followed in 1989 and 1997, culminating in a total of 11,500 square meters, all designed by the renowned C.F. Møller Architects. Forskerparken became a hive of activity. Researchers and entrepreneurs worked side-by-side, transforming innovative ideas into tangible realities. In 2007, Forskerparken merged with IT-Huset Katrinebjerg. This union marked the birth of INCUBA Science Park, a larger entity encompassing multiple locations across Aarhus. Although the original Forskerparken buildings are now fully occupied by Aarhus University. Their legacy lives on, a testament to the power of collaboration and the enduring spirit of innovation. These buildings now house university laboratories and teaching facilities, where research and development projects continue to flourish, bridging the gap between public institutions and the private sector. Forskerparken may have changed, but its core mission remains, woven into the fabric of Aarhus University and the city’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.
