The FMS Gera’s fully preserved equipment, from the bridge to the fish hold, tells their story. The side trawler method, hauling nets over the ship’s side, demanded immense physical strength. Visitors can stand on the very deck where fishermen once battled the elements, hauling in their catch using winches and sheer muscle power.
