It’s a haven for those seeking sun, sand, and the thrill of a good catch. Fisherman’s Beach stretches 550 meters along the shoreline. It sits in the lee of Linley Point. The Esplanade rises on 20-meter bluffs right behind us. Between the road and the beach is a narrow foreshore reserve, complete with a seawall and a few boat sheds. You’ll find convenient access to the beach at the base of Linley Point. This access point also includes a double boat ramp, perfect for launching your own fishing adventure. Fisherman’s Beach is generally safe for swimming, especially when the waves are low. However, be mindful of the variable water depths caused by sandbars and rip currents. If the waves pick up, the currents can intensify. For the safest swimming experience at Fisherman’s Beach, it’s best to stay away from the boat launch area. While the beach is unpatrolled, it holds a hazard rating of 3 out of 10. This makes it one of the least hazardous beaches in the area. Multiple lookouts offer stunning views of Fisherman’s Beach. You can find one such lookout opposite number 729 on the Esplanade. A path from there leads down to the beach via a wooden staircase with 41 steps. The beach itself is a long, wide stretch of sand with minimal rocks. It offers a great place to walk. As you walk north, you’ll encounter more stones. The northern end of Fisherman’s Beach is narrower. It features about twelve brightly colored beach huts. At the very north end, you will find a sea-wall and public toilets. At the south end of Fisherman’s Beach, a drain, or perhaps a small creek, flows into the bay. Be careful here, as the soft sand presents a sinking hazard. This end of the beach also has a sea-wall, boat ramps, and toilets. A car park is conveniently located at the southern end, opposite number 719 on the Esplanade. For the best experience at Fisherman’s Beach, it’s recommended to stay in the central part. After a day of sun and sand, you can grab a bite to eat at the Lilo Cafe, located just opposite the beach at number 725 on the Esplanade. Fisherman’s Beach truly offers something for everyone, from fishing enthusiasts to families seeking a relaxing day by the sea.
