“This unassuming plaque whispers tales of faith and community” It marks the spot where the First Presbyterian Church of Richardson stands. This isn’t just any church. It’s a living testament to enduring faith. Its story began on August 21 1870. Twenty charter members and Reverend George L Blewett formed the Trinity Congregation. This was under the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. They first met in George Henry Blewett’s home. George Henry was the founder’s son. He generously donated land for their first sanctuary. This was a simple one-room structure. The congregation grew. In 1909 they became the Richardson Presbyterian Church. They moved to a new sanctuary on Polk Street and Greenville Avenue in 1910. The church continued to expand. They acquired their current site in 1954 building a sanctuary completed in 1957. This was replaced by a larger facility in 1988.
