Considering a place that embodies both faith and recreation? The First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu might surprise you. In 2006, the First Presbyterian Church purchased a unique property. It wasn’t a traditional church building. It was the Koolau Golf Clubhouse.

This transformation created Hawaii’s first church and golf clubhouse. The Koolau Golf Clubhouse is set amidst fifteen thousand acres of greenery. The towering Koolau Mountains provide a stunning backdrop. The stuccoed, reinforced concrete building blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Its design features a series of receding low-pitched roofs.

Large glass walls offer interaction with the environment. A skylit atrium brings the outside in. It features hapuu and rhapis palms. A tiled fountain adds to the serene atmosphere. The golf course itself is a challenging design. Rugged landscapes and large bunkers define the course.

Originally developed by a Japanese corporation, the property faced financial difficulties. The economic bubble burst in Japan in the early 1990s. The property was sold for a fraction of its original cost. First Presbyterian Church embraced this unique opportunity.

Now, it serves as a hub. It is a place where faith and community come together. The First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu is joining Jesus to restore and transform one another and our world. The First Prez is a hub of healing for broken hearts, spirits, minds, and bodies. Hundreds of testimonies confirm this.

You can join First Prez gatherings. These are hosted at our campuses and various locations across the island. Connect and grow with others. You can join worship services, community activities and classes. Faithful generosity supports the mission and vision. This reaches within the church and beyond.
