Ever wonder what hidden gems lie within Melbourne’s vibrant arts precinct? Today we are standing before one such treasure: the Fiona and Sidney Myer Gallery.
The Fiona and Sidney Myer Gallery is more than just an art space. It is a hub for creativity and a platform for emerging and established artists alike. Established in 2001, it was initially known as the Margaret Lawrence Gallery. The gallery is located on the University of Melbourne’s Southbank campus.
This gallery fosters connections between artists, academics, students, and the public. Its diverse program focuses on showcasing new works. These works come from local, national, and international artists. The Fiona and Sidney Myer Gallery enriches understanding of visual art through forums and talks. Public lectures and artist talks add to these events. Curators also give talks to broaden the understanding of the exhibitions.
The Fiona and Sidney Myer Gallery plays a pivotal role in Melbourne’s art scene. This is made possible through the generous support of Fiona Myer and Sidney Myer AM. Their contribution ensures the gallery’s continued success. The gallery also acknowledges the Margaret Lawrence Bequest for its earlier support.
