A majestic structure rises before you. This is Fale Pasifika. It’s a landmark in Auckland a symbol of Pacific identity.

This impressive Fale is more than just a building. It’s a cultural hub. It’s the second largest Pasifika Fale in the Southern Hemisphere. Standing tall at 12 meters high 26 meters long and 15 meters wide it’s a truly impressive sight.

Fale Pasifika is located at the University of Auckland. It’s a place where Pacific students find a home away from home. The Fale provides space for ceremonies discussions teaching and learning. It embodies the Pasifika concept of ‘aiga’ family. This ‘home’ supports over 2000 Pacific students. Many other students whose interests include Pacific studies also benefit from this space.

The Fale’s design was inspired by Malaga a successful Pacific performing arts celebration. Malaga provided academic and mentoring programs for 500 young participants. Interestingly at least sixty percent of these students went on to tertiary education. The University hopes Fale Pasifika creates similar opportunities for Auckland’s young Pasifika people.

For many the University may have seemed unattainable. Fale Pasifika changes that perception. It shows that Pasifika people are welcome and supported at the University. This building is a powerful statement of inclusion.

The New Zealand government recognizes the importance of Fale Pasifika. They supported its construction. They understand the crucial role the Fale plays in education and cultural preservation. They see the value in supporting Pasifika communities. Their contribution is a testament to New Zealand’s commitment to its Pacific communities and their relations with Pacific nations.

The Fale isn’t just about the present. It’s also about the future. It will help preserve Pacific languages and cultures for generations to come. It’s a place where young Pasifika people can learn and grow together. It’s a vibrant center of learning and a symbol of hope. A symbol for a brighter future.
