Established in 2004 the Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan FKIK of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta stands as a testament to perseverance. Its journey began much earlier. In 2002 a senat meeting proposed its creation. The initial proposal included four study programs. These were Medicine Public Health Pharmacy and Nursing.
Many individuals championed this ambitious project. Among them were Professor Sularto Professor Achmad Sofyan Doctor Utarini and Professor Tadjudin. Professor Azra Professor Suwito Professor Nata and Professor Sampoerno also played key roles. Others like Achmad Gholib Abdul Shomad and Doctor Jauhari contributed their expertise. Professor Tadjudin from the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine led the proposal. He acted as the guiding faculty.
Securing the necessary approvals wasn’t easy. It took time and effort. The process spanned several years. It involved multiple levels of government. The Medical Education program gained its official standing in 2005. This was thanks to crucial decisions from the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Further expansion involved overcoming numerous bureaucratic hurdles. In 2015 a team was formed to split FKIK. This division created separate Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences. This restructuring was necessary to comply with new regulations. These included the 2013 Law on Medical Education and Konsil Kedokteran Indonesia regulations.
The process extended to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Then it proceeded to the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform. Finally on January 15 2018 the Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a regulation formalizing the separation. Doctor Hari Hendarto became the inaugural dean of the new Faculty of Medicine. He assumed his position on March 1 2018.
The Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan FKIK’s history is a story of dedication. It’s a story of overcoming obstacles to provide high quality medical education. The story of the FKIK is a shining example of how determination and persistence can lead to success. Today this institution plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s healthcare system.
